We try to find rusty or broken claw hammers because people seem to like the older look more than new and shiny. The sail is a piece of metal cut from a hand saw blade and is usually mounted on a wrench and screw. The rudder is a tab off a horseshoe that was repurposed to make signs or coat hooks.
Since each piece is made by hand, no two are identical. The hammer heads and wrenches vary depending on what we're able to save from the scrap heap. Pieces are protected with enamel or a clear powder coat finish.
